The Sandugo treaty was signed on the coast of Bohol Island in March of 1565.
The treaty is a blood contract because the participants drink a small amount of each other's blood mixed with wine. ("Dugo" means blood in Visayan.)
This was a traditional way to formalize treaties of friendship in the Philippines.

The Mongol Empire in the early 14th century, spanned from Asia across Eastern Europe. It was the largest contiguous empire in the history of the world. It emerged from modern day Mongolia, when Genghis Khan was proclaimed ruler in 1206. At its greatest extent it was one sixth of the Earth with a population of over 100 million.
At Kublai Khan's death, the Empire was divided into four separates. The Great Khans assumed the role of Chinese emperors, and fixed their capital at Khanbaliq (modern-day Beijing), until Mongol rule in China fell in 1368. For political reasons, the early Manchu emperors took wives descended from the Great Khans.
With the fall of the Qing Dynasty, Mongolia declared independence in 1911. However, the equally new Republic of China claimed Mongolia as part of its own territory.
In 1921 with the assistance of the Soviet Red Army, revolutionaries expelled the Russian White Guards from the country forming the Mongolian People's Republic a satellite of the Soviet Union. This revolution ended the Chinese sovereignty which had existed since 1691.
The first non-communist party election wins came in 1993. A new constitution changed the name from ‘Peoples Republic’ to Mongolia.
Naadam Festival
Naadam as a ceremony has existed for centuries as a sacrificial ritual honoring the mountain gods. The Festivals also has origins in military activities, such as archery, horse riding and wrestling.
Today it formally commemorates the 1921 revolution when Mongolia defeated the Chinese military.
Naadam is the most widely watched festival in modern day Mongolia, reaching back in history to one of the worlds greatest Empires. The time lines for the Mongol steppes reach back to the beginning of human history. The Kans would be proud of the three games of men.
