Odawara Hojo Godai Matsuri or Festival of Hojo's Five Generations is the largest sightseeing event in Odawara city.
An army of 2,000 Bushi warriors consisting of warrior troops, cavalry, and gun troops march through the main streets around Odawara city. Followed by the brass bands from the city's junior high schools.
Entertainment includes musical groups, Lantern Dance and ceremonial floats.

Flores de Mayo "Flowers of May" is a month long festival for the month of May. It is held in honor of the Virgin Mary.
The name is derived from Spanish. Also known as "Flores de Maria" ("Flowers of Mary"). The festival originated in 1865 when young girls would make floral offerings to the Virgin Mary at the parish church in Malolos, Bulacan.
Malolos was also the site of the Malolos Convention, in 1898 that led to the establishment of the First Philippine Republic. The convent of the Malolos Cathedral served as the first presidential palace.
In the Bicol region, , the festival is held every Wednesday and Saturday of May, with the last day called "katapusan". The ritual is started with the rosary followed by Spanish Marian songs.
The Empress Helena (c. AD 250 – c. AD 330), mother of Constantine, the first Christian Emperor of Rome, travelled to Jerusalem, in 326. She discovered the hiding place of three crosses used in the crucifixion at Golgotha under a temple originally built for Isis. With the Cross were also found the Holy Nails, which Helena took back with her to Rome.
The Santacruzan refers to the pageant on the last day held in honor of Reyna Elena and Constantine finding the True Cross in Jerusalem.

May Day was a festival from April 28 - May 2 which began in the Roman Empire in 238 B.C. Floralia was originally a Spring Festival which honors Roman goddess of flowers.
The city of Rome would have been decorated in flowers, and the people would wear flowers in their hair. Games would be celebrated on this day. The celebration of this day survives in many cultures where it is known as May Day. May is named after the Roman goddess Maia, the wife of Mars.
With roots in Germanic paganism, the maypole with its flower crown represents a pagan phallic symbol. The May Pole would bring fertility to all who dance around it. The ribbons were red and white, the colors of consummation and marriage.
May day was a major holiday in most communist countries, and it continues to be important where left-wing political parties and labor movements wield influence or struggle for power.
May 1st, International Workers' Day, commemorates the historic struggle of working people throughout the world, and is recognized in every country except the United States, Canada, and South Africa. This is despite the fact that the holiday began in the 1880s in the United States, with the fight for an eight-hour work day.
While in prison, in 1896, Lenin wrote a May Day leaflet for the St. Petersburg Union of Struggle for the Liberation of the Working Class, one of the first Marxist political groups in Russia.
The leaflet was smuggled out of the prison and mimeographed copies distributed among workers in Russian factories.

The May Day parade at Moscow’s Red Square used to be an annual event which the Communists around the world proudly viewed. The Communist leaders used this day to show its military might and superiority. Now with the collapse of the USSR, China is now the unchallenged leader of the Communist world.
